You and me in awe

Sometimes we just have to believe in something, something that gives us hope and purpose. “You and me in awe” is all about that hope.

It tells the story of two people finally finding one another against all odds and doing the whole living happily ever after thing. Here it is :

Oh yes, and I decided to add this funny snippet of the song… When I first tried to save the final recording of the song I accidentally hit the wrong button and upsampled the whole recording. The results were quite funny, so I decided to add it here. :)

You’re near

This song is about the fact that we often forget where we came from, because of life and the things that happen in life.

Our lives get so busy and full of meaningless things that it is often difficult to hear His voice through all of it. But what I try to emphasize through the song is the fact that He is bigger than all of this and that, despite all of life’s problems He is still right here with us.

I thought you should know

I thought you should know tells the story of someone who thinks he has fallen in love. Still not exactly sure of how he feels he leaves this mysterious choice to a higher power and decides to go with it.

Now all that’s needed is to find a way to let that special person know.

This song is supposed to serve that purpose.

To be with you

This song tells the story of a guy who is ready to leave everything that he has known just to be with someone.

This guy is so completely overwhelmed that nothing else matters and the only thing he can focus on is the one thing that makes him feel good. So he decides to pursue this feeling, even if it is at the cost of everything that he knows…

Hold On

The timing for Hold On was actually quite good, since I was just starting to branch out and believe in love once again at that time. Some friends of mine were hosting this valentines ball at the Pretoria City hall and they wanted me to do a performance of an original song that would be fitting to the event.

So I wrote Hold On. It’s all about how we should never let go of our search for love, even if we pay a higher emotional price every single time we lose it again. Just keep believing and holding on to love.

Forget

Forget is the song that follows “Someday Soon“.

I wrote Forget as an inspiration/motivation to move on and forget about what I once had and lost. Thats just how I deal with stuff… I don’t get angry and break something, even though I have considered it sometimes. I write songs and hope that that helps to get stuff out.

This was also my first attempt at using piano as my lead instrument.

Someday Soon

I have written many entries for this song in my previous sites, but I thought it would be nice just to have it here too for completeness.

Someday soon was my first proper original recording. I wrote the song shortly after the end of a relationship while the hurt and confusion was still very much present and all I could think of.

It tells the story of someone who hasn’t yet accepted the fact that it’s over. He is still clining to the hope that maby someday (soon) things will all work out.

It is really true that we write our best music when we are truly inspired. I think this was the case for Someday Soon.
